Extend Virtual PC .vhd disk

Hi.. After a while (2 years +), Im back again.

I have a tes Virtual Machine in Virtual PC. This vm has a differencing disk created from a Base disk that has Windows 2003 Enterprise SP1 and this base disk is 6GB size. When I created the differencing disk, the wizard didnt allow me to increase or expand the new disk size. After a while, the disk is out of space and I need to EXPAND it.

Fists of all, with the 'Virtual Disk Wizard', i edited the differencing disk and merged the Base disk data and the Diff disk data into a new one. Once I have the NEW .vhd disk, I followed the instruction in http://kb.dutchalps.com/microsoftvirtualpc.htm to increade the .vhd size using DISKPART. When I type the comand EXTEND, the prompt freezes up and seems that its working.. after a while I cancelled the operation with CTRL+C and Computer Management show a new bigger 16GB volume. BUT when I go to windows explorer.. THE PARTITION ONLY DETECTS 6GB (originnal size) AND NOT 16GB.

SOLUTION:

Once you resized the .vhd disk with .vhd Resizer, add the disk to the vm in Virtual PC, but DON'T start it. What I did was copied WndowsPE and add the .ISO to the vm and boot from there. Once there, open a command prompt and followed the steps in the screenshot and I WAS ABLE TO EXPAND THE PARTITION!!!

Hope this is usefull to you like was to me.
